California announced today that they are moving the date up from April 22 (Earth Day) to March 17th (St. Patrick's Day) 2010. Looks like the Governator sped up the process to get people out shopping earlier in the year to help boost the economy.
California plans to offer $100 on eligible clothes washers, $75 on refrigerators and $50 on room air conditioners.
Appliances must at least meet federal Energy Star requirements, but states can require higher efficiency standards.
It seems many states have jumped the gun on the cash for appliances rebate program. Delaware starting handing out checks at the beginning of December 2009 to residents who bought energy efficient rated appliances.
The $838,000 is on a first come first served basis, so make sure you give your family a nice Christmas gift or New Years gift and start saving money today with an Energy Star rated home appliance.
Tennessee recently unveiled their plans for the Cash For Appliances rebate program. Residents can take advantage of rebates of anywhere from $50-$200 on appliances like refrigerators, ovens, washers and dryers, dishwashers as well as some states participating in heating and cooling devices.
Tennessee will run the Cash For Appliances rebate program starting on Earth Day, April 22 and will run until the roughly $5.9 million in rebates has run out. It is first come, first serve so make sure you are out on Earth Day in 2010 to purchase your new appliances.
Well it seems Maine just couldn't wait around any longer to get those old appliances replaced with new Energy Star rated appliances. U.S. Congresswoman Chellie Pingree has setup a website that explains that Maine launched their Cash For Appliances program on October 1st, about 14 days before the deadline for states to turn in their paperwork.
New Jersey recently rolled out its tentative date for Cash For Appliances. The Federal Stimulus funds should be available for New Jersey in January of 2010. On top of the $8.3 million that is being offered by the state run program, other rebates are also being offered by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
South Carolina has come up with a few guidelines for their cash for appliances program. More details should be coming after the end of November, but as it stands right now South Carolina's cash for appliances program will begin sometime in March. The $4.2 million in rebates will be available to anyone who purchases an energy star rated refrigerator, dishwasher or hot water heater. The only stipulation is you must recycle your old appliance with the retailer you buy from.
Oregon has just let it's residents know how it plans on handling the roughly $3.6 million dollars in federal stimulus funds it will receive from the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program. Since 40% of Oregon's annual energy usage is from heating homes, the state has decided to give low-income household discounts, some as much as 100 percent.
Some businesses and people have mixed feelings about the way the money is being handled. But Oregon already has an established tax credit program for energy-efficient appliances that covers dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators and freezers.
Well it looks like the state of Indiana has finalized its plans for the Cash For Appliances program. Indiana will distribute the 6 million dollars in rebates on January 1st of 2010. No word yet on the exact rebate amounts for each appliance. But other states are offering around $50-$200 on most general appliances.
New York checked in with their rebate amount and it is quite different from most of the other states. NYSERDA is only offering rebates on four appliances: Refrigerators, Clothes Washers, Freezers and Dishwashers.
They have set a date for the program to begin and that will be from February 12th to the 21st of 2010. If their is money left afterwords they will re-open the program again. The rebate amounts change quite a bit and you can read about the New York Appliance Rebatehere
North Carolina has just announced its rebate amounts and dates that will be available for the Federal Cash For Appliances program here in the US. The North Carolina State Energy Office is proposing a 15% discount on energy star rated appliances. Unfortunately North Carolina is only offering the rebates on four appliances: Washers, Dishwashers, Refrigerators and Freezers. The rebates will be in full effect for only four days from April 22nd to the 25th so make sure you get out their to shop in the small time frame.
